Who Needs a UK ETA?

The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required for visa-exempt nationals who wish to visit the United Kingdom for tourism, business, transit, or short-term study purposes.

You May Need an ETA If:

  • You are from a visa-exempt country
  • Visiting for tourism or leisure
  • Traveling for business meetings
  • Transiting through the UK
  • Short-term study (up to 6 months)

You Don't Need an ETA If:

  • You are a British or Irish citizen
  • You have UK settled or pre-settled status
  • You have a UK visa
  • You have indefinite leave to enter or remain
  • You're traveling from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man
